The training course is based on the syllabus set out by Mountain Training and the particular needs of candidates. We will cover skills and techniques required when leading groups hill walking and camping in the UK mountains.  To register with Mountain Training you must have 12 months mountain walking experience, be at least 18 years old and a member of a Mountaineering Council. If you are unsure please contact Mountain Sense for guidance.

Our highly enjoyable course based in the heart of the Central Fells of the Lake District, includes navigation, group management, leading on steep ground, risk assessment and emergency use of the rope. Consideration of the weather, mountain rescue, the environment and other related topics will also be covered.

The majority of the course is practical and we also include some theory sessions in the evenings which will be interactive and lively. There will be an overnight expedition and night navigation training.
